Daniel asked me if it was possible to have some buttons inside the 3D view, for common actions. This is especially useful when working in full screen mode (Shift + space). So here is the first version of the script. It's based on work by mariano. So far it only has the possibility to change the material of a mesh. But more is to come. To download it go here. That page also contains instructions on how to use it. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Tell me for example what things (e.g. the screw function) you would like to see added to it. So don't hesitate to post here.

We could also try and get a composer on board. At www.thebrb.com there are some running around, and some might even work for free. That is, if we have some material we can show. I've just had a look at percussionlab, but I can't really tell if it's free to use. Do you know if it is?

I'm with Daniel on this one. First we need something to show other people. I've seen way too many projects get gunned down on blenderartists, because they're nothing more than a vague idea. The quality of Blitz's modelling is of course stunning and not subject of discussion.

Hi again. I've been away for the past week myself but I've got a good reason: my girlfriend showed up on my doorstep with an empty bag and I had 20 minutes to pack my stuff. That evening we were in Paris (city of love) and she had booked a room for us for a week as a surprise. Now I won't go into the details, but let me say that getting online to inform you guys wasn't exactly at the top of my list of priorities ;D. I only just got back last night, so I'm all set to rock hard! Tomorrow I'll continue work on the skankymatic.

I don't know if any of you already found this thread at blenderartists, but it contains the news that DAZ is currently (for a limited period of time) offering Bryce 5.0 for free. I have never used it myself, but it might be worth to download it. An extra free tool at your disposal is never bad, is it?

Hi again. I hope you had a good vacation. Quick request: could you give me permission to your driveHQ folder. My handle over there is: Crouch If everything is ok you should already have access to my folder.

Have a good day! Sorry about the lack of shadows and some errors, but I didn't have much time. On the positive side: there are 14 candles!

Zbrush? Do you have some spare $$$ burning a hole in your pocket? Of course it's a nice programme though. But I have to admit I haven't used it myself. About sharpconstruct: one of the summer of code projects is integrating it into the blender source code. Including multiple resolution meshes, which is really nice. I tried one of the testbuilds just before I went on holiday and it already worked quite well. Just give it a try and grab one of the testbuilds with it from www.graphicall.org (which seems to be down for some days, but should be back up soon).

cd38: so you're on linux then. Unfortunately the other platforms will need to wait a release for ffmpeg support.
/me goes back to playing with 2.42

While we're on the topic: I'm back from my holiday as well. At the moment I'm trying to catch up with my e-mail (200+) and all blender news. Just finished watching the blendernation siggraph reports. Quite some amazing stuff in them...

I've seen that pic some weeks before, when it got the award. It's indeed a really nice pictures. The set has a lot of possibilities for a good fight. The rain looks slightly photoshopped though. Not certain if that can be used for a 3D animation. (although: plane with rain-texture in front of the scene and you're done)

Nice sketch. Really helps to visualize things. As you're saying it's the tip of the pile, you make me curious about the rest of the pile...
