i thought i would post this since i wana know what your experiences are with working in teams and on short CG films, be it your own short or with a group. i also wana know how long youve been using modeling and what your best assests are, i.e. modeling (organic, mechinacal etc), animating... now my turn experiences - worked on 2 CG films in groups, the first didnt work so well, the expectations were to great and the team fell apart. the second was succesfull and the team was small (only 2 ppl), this was for professional work. i think ive been modeling for about 2 - 2 1/2 yrs now, using TS3 and blender. i would say my best assets are Modeling organic and mechanical. im learning animationg/ rigging and texture now though

I have been modelling for 9 months, never worked in a group before, but somehow I get on well with other people in a community when there is something that we share an interest in.
Best assets would probably be mechanical where I make each sperate part and fix it together. and possibly architecture in which I do in a similar way. I came across Blender after using a program called context free, I was interested in computer art by going on deviantart and started creating wallpapers and listening to ppl's critiques and adjusting those that I made. I then became interested in photography which led on to 3d design... I would like to learn how to model more effeciently and rigging, annimating.

Experiences:
Worked on a CG project a while ago failed to take off though> then i worked on a commercial with dan for vasious media.
I've been modelling for about two years i think ain't sure it was when i broke my foot that i found blender at school when i was like 14.
Mainly use blender i know a bit of XSI and Maya and i also use photoshop because it rules what you can do with photos on it ;D
Best assets = none imo* but i can model some organic things and most mechanical things if i took my time. I can also animate which i love doing but of course you have to be able to make the models to animate them when your by yourself...
You can never stop learning imo* and i am still learning alot like texturing, mats and lighting
Thanks
Kev
*Imo = in my opinion
P.S any queries about stuff to do with this forum PM me and i can try and fix it. Thanks

Experience: Worked with a team on a short CG film before. But the ideas got too big, and the work done too small. Really taught me to keep things small to start with. I also have experience with some commercial webdesign (flash mainly). Doing this you really learn to appreciate (impossible) deadlines. Fortunately I finished everything in time and like the customer wanted it.
Blender experience: Been around since somewhere near the start of the 2.3x series, but it took me some time to get started seriously. My main strength is python. Modelling and animating skills are basic, but texturing is really far below any recognisable level.

I have been modelling for about 4 years now, I have found that I am more capable at Organics. I started off with Anim8or and moved to blender about 6 months ago, I have completely fallen in love with blender. I have some, but only limited animation experience, and none whatsoever with blender. I am currently taking part in a 3D animation course at college, we are using 3DS Max and we are nearing the end of our first animation project. The project is an animation of a submarine, I'll see if I can get a copy of it put on cd to show to you guys I am also currently in another 3D animation course using 3DS Max, however this one is at the AIE (academy of interactive entertainment) and is only on wednesday evenings.
